We provide training and education in the areas of social skills, executive function skills, independent living skills and job readiness skills. Our programs are structured, workshop-based, and goal-directed. We see each individual as a whole person with natural gifts and abilities. Recognizing these abilities allows each individual’s personality to shine through.
PEERS® is a 16-week evidence-based social skills training program for ASD adults who are interested in learning skills to make and keep friends and develop romantic relationships. During each group session, ASD adults are taught important social skills and are given the opportunity to practice these skills in session. They are then given weekly socialization homework assignments to practice skills in real life situations. Program participants must be 18 or over, graduated from high school and motivated to participate.
VIPWorks is a partnership between ASD Adult Achievement Center and Bright Feats Directory.Our program encompasses print and digital production skills, problem solving skills, entrepreneurship skills, career readiness, developing communication skills for employment, successfully completing identified tasks in appropriate time, and interpersonal skills such as making eye contact and social thinking in the workplace.
Task Masters is a step-by-step group coaching program designed to help ASD adults develop the necessary executive function skills needed to meet daily responsibilities. Executive functions connect our present choices to future outcomes. They help us manage our time, be productive, plan, organize, and reach goals. Task Masters incorporates a 3 step process to focus on a different executive function skill each week, each skill building on the next to improve self awareness and daily functioning. Participants must be 18 or older, graduated from high school and motivated to participate.
Launch Pad is a step-by-step life coaching program designed to launch ASD adults into greater independence. Launch Pad provides the necessary tools to establish a solid foundation to allow ASD adults to achieve greater independence in a supported environment. Launch Pad also takes the guesswork out of what to do with a step-by-step action plan tailored to each client’s individual needs. Program participants must be 18 or over, graduated from high school and motivated to participate.
Self Advocacy Training 1 is a 20-hour program designed for ASD adults to develop the skills needed to better communicate their strengths, abilities, interest, and needs when interviewing with potential employers or applying to trade schools, colleges, or universities. This program empowers ASD adults to make decisions about their own life and become more independent. Participants will gain knowledge in: Developing Self Awareness, Understanding Personal Rights, Setting Goals, Requesting Appropriate Accommodations, Developing an Action Plan, Learning to Advocate for Personal Needs.
The Self-Advocacy Training 2 is a 25-hour program, available to students who have successfully completed the Self-Advocacy Training 1.
Career Success Shop is a 20 hour program that has been designed to help you understand your skills, interests and values as you think about your future. It will help you to match your strengths to possible careers. . You will follow a step-by-step process resulting in ideas, goals and actions. With the help of this Career Planning Guide, you can take charge of your life and successfully transition into the world of work.
Peer Mentoring is an intensive, time-limited self-advocacy training service. This service uses “like-aged” peers to help youth learn how to self-advocate for the community, social and professional supports needed to effectively transition into postsecondary training, education, and employment. We meet once a week for an hour.
