Stress tolerance is our ability to stay calm under pressure, to remain steadfast in the face of adversity, and to maintain control of our emotions despite our fear of uncertainty. We cannot avoid life’s responsibilities, but we can put certain strategies into place to cope more efficiently when faced with difficult tasks.
This coaching tool kit employs a 3-step process to help individuals with ASD improve stress tolerance. You will start by exploring the ways that stress tolerance weakness affects your daily life. Next, you will choose from a list of strategies that tend to be helpful for improving stress tolerance. Lastly, you will set up a strategic plan to make improvements in specific areas of your life. After you have worked on these improvements, you will reflect back on your progress to improve self awareness.
